2016 MSHSAA State Championship

For the second time in three years, we took two full varsity teams to state. While our performance was better than two years ago, and dramatically better on the girls side, the competition was better as well. Nearly every runner earned a personal record, which proved the effectiveness of our training schedule. Our boys team surpassed expectations and finished 10th, two spots ahead of  district competitor Maryville. For the first time ever at state, three of our boys finished below 18:00. The girls, while performing much faster than their 11th place finish last year, still finished 12th. Mira Bannwarth, who earned 25th place last year, took 24th this year and broke her personal record by one second. Katie Alexander, who has struggled to beat her PR that she earned at state two years ago, crushed that record in her final race with the Warriors. It was an emotional and historic race for our teams.
