2017 Kearney Invitational

Kearney remains one of the most challenging meets on our schedule year-to-year. It’s also one of the largest. While our runners typically have great individual success at this meet, we don’t often compete well against the Class 4 larger schools that show up. This year, we made that a little more competitive. Our girls really stepped up and knocked out nearly all of the competition, stopping short only to Rock Bridge. Rock Bridge beat Smithville by 11 points and had an average time that was only 6 seconds faster. On the varsity boys side, Smithville beat 24 other schools, but stopped short of knocking off the powerhouses of Rockhurst, Rock Bridge, Aquinas, and Columbia Hickman. It was an excellent performance and really shows the depth and strength of this team this year.
